Artist’s
details
Originally a native of Enniskillen, now living
in Holywood Co Down, Deirdre Hiscocks studied Art under Kathleen
Brindle and encouraged by her, gained the Final Certificate (Honours)
from The Royal Drawing Society London. She graduated in Art and
Design (Distinction) from Stranmillis College Belfast and later
studied life drawing and ceramics at Belfast Art College.

Ebb Tide, Ringdufferin
1991: One person exhibition in the
Mortar Board, Belfast
1993: Elected member of the Ulster Watercolour
Society.
1993: Winner of the Max Macabe Trophy USWA
1994: Exhibited in The Royal Ulster Academy Exhibition.
1995: Lord Mayor’s Exhibition Malone House,
Belfast.
1995: Awarded USWA Diploma.
1996: Winner of the Morton Newspaper Award.
1997: Winner of the Ulster Bank Perpetual Award
ASU.
1999: Awarded ASU.
2000: Painting selected for exhibition in
Seattle.

Dark Red Poppies
Deirdre is a former Head of Art and Design
in Belfast Model School for Girls and is now Head of Art and Design
in Ashfield Boys’ High School. She finds the love of flowers
in their natural environment an enjoyable stimulus for many of her
watercolours. Over the years she has served as a committee member
of the Ulster Society of Women Artists, The Ulster Water Society,
The Arts Society of Ulster and The Kerr Art Group. She exhibits
annually with these groups, in local galleries and charity exhibitions.
