Libby Mulqueeny

After graduating from the Art College in Belfast, I worked in the Geology Department in Queen’s University for many years where I had lots of opportunities to be creative drawing illustrations and making displays. I now work as an illustrator in the Archaeology dept.

Down from the light

I paint in watercolours.
Lots of subjects excite me:
Beaches, harbours and boats.
The 3D world of the sea, it’s depths, ledges, shallows and rock pools.
Sunlight and shadows, glass, reflections and still water. And children’s faces.

Crabline Concentration

I have done many commissions over the years, mainly of children but also of people, houses, dogs and views.

Exhibited at various local exhibitions including Higgin Gallery Malone House, and Naughton Gallery, Queens University.

Awarded the Elizabeth Morrow trophy for most original and innovative work at the 2005 exhibition of the Ulster Society of Women Artists.

Awarded 2nd prize 4 times in the Rose Society of Northern Ireland Competition. I live in hope.
